DHB finally had Raider Nation on his side after last season 64 catches for 975 yards and 4 TDs, and wanted to send a message to them Tuesday from Raiders OTAs.
"I just kind of regret bringing bad attention to the team, for the most part," Heyward-Bey said, via the Contra Costa Times. "Want to let the fans know that I'm here, working hard, trying to get on the same page with Carson and looking forward to the season."
Heyward-Bey does not have a history of legal or substance abuse problems, so it's unclear if he'll face a possible suspension from the league. The former No. 7-overall pick was Oakland's leading receiver last year with 975 yards. We'd bet on Denarius Moore and/or Jacoby Ford passing him in production this season.
After everyone messes up they always want to apologize, and Heyward-Bey is not the exception. His apologies weren't the best ones either epecially after he said, "I just kind of regret." What does he mean by "kind of?" He should be completely sorry not kind of sorry. Now that he has competition for the job he wants to be better, (am happy about that don't get me wrong) but he needs to improve his performance this year to keep up with Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore. This year his going to struggle to keep that starting job, at most I think his going to be a third string receiver behind Ford and Moore. I guess he might be more motivated by this so he might play harder and earn back his starting spot, but his going to have to work really hard after seeing how good Moore and Ford are.
With all this competition going on between the Raiders receivers the only thing that's going to happen is that the Raiders are going to become better and better each day. These are great news for all the Raider fans out there that are waiting for a winning season this season.
